About the teacher, Shanna Lennon

A jack of all trades master of none sort of person but happy to share anything I know with anyone who would find it useful and fun. My main hobby is baking - I'm a home baker who loves to bake for family and friends. My first Trade School workshop will be how to ice cupcakes - I used to work in a cupcake shop so learnt the tricks and tips of making a cracking buttercream and how to pipe it. I hope Trade School will be a way of uncovering hidden talents and sharing them with others!

Have you ever wondered what all of those buttons on your camera that don't say "auto" do? Ever been stuck with blurry photos and you don't know why? Finger covering the lens? If so, join me as we learn the basics of photography including what those other settings do, and why we might choose to use them, either just to get a good picture, or for creative effect. This class is intended to be hands on so please bring a camera of some sort if you can. Anything will do, whether it's a fancy SLR or a phone, the principals are the same. If you don't have anything but are still interested, that's fine too, please come anyway.

Make your own felt flowers

Making a stunning felt flower is really simple. You will learn to use a wet felting technique using a variety of coloured wool, soapy water and a bit of elbow grease! I can supply all the materials but would ask if people could bring along a small towel to save me having to do lots of washing.

When I retired I was looking for a new craft that didn't need a lot of expensive equipment and was cheap to do. Felting met these criteria and a lot more. Just using a few basic techniques it is possible to produce a wide range of very individual items - jewellery, scarves, hats, and lots more.
