To say goodbye to the epic year that has been 2016 we will be hosting a Wabi-sabi inspired Christmas decoration workshop using ink, paper and wax. Wabi-sabi is described as one of beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". The session will be meditative, reflective and allow participants to embrace transience and imperfection whilst creating satisfying paper sculptures dipped in wax. There will also be opportunity to create more formal sculptures and further experimentation with materials, as well as making wabi-sabi wrapping paper! Christmas tunes and 'hygge' vibes included!

About the teacher, Annie Mackin

Annie Mackin is a Hastings based abstract artist. Since graduating from Westminster University in 2009 with BA hons degree in Mixed media fine art, Annie has taught art in London and also exhibited in various group shows including The Saatchi, Printhouse, Cocknbull and Palmtree galleries in London. Most notably, Annie was featured as one of five artists in the ‘Annin arts presents #Mynameis’ project, alongside Turner Prize winner Gillian Wearing. Annie finds inspiration from worlds both seen and unseen and in between spaces; ambiguously exploring the vast enormity of everything or minute and microscopic nothings, the natural and the supernatural, before life and after death and dream like states. Annie will also be teaching experimental and formal art techniques in an art/yoga retreat in Granada early next year.
