This class seeks to respond to the question of whether the xenophobic attacks of earlier this year were caused by the South African government's inability to deal with the massive presence of foreigners, or is rather a war of the marginalized people in this country. The class will also provide some of the governance challenges affecting the South African government in terms of refugee related issues.

About the teacher, Feruzi Ngwamba

I am a PhD student in Policy and Development, and am lecturing in the access programme in Social Sciences. I am a former Pietermaritzburg Student Representative Council member, and a former Academic Development and Transition office in the UKZN BMF student chapter. I have also presented on Capital Radio FM.
