Frantz Fanon: What more to know?

2:00p.m. to 4:00p.m.
OMB Room 115
Room 115, Old Main Building, King Edward Avenue, Scottsville
Pietermaritzburg ZA

This session will look at Fanon's work to trace his relevance to post-apartheid South Africa. Hoping that there will be a vibrant discussion, the session will look at the work of violence perpetrated by SAPS towards disgruntled societies starting from Marikana to date. The question of violence is important in Fanon's work, and yet misrepresented. The session hopes to get participants to give their understandings of violence in post-apartheid South Africa drawing from reading of Fanon. If possible, bring a copy of Wretched of the Earth
