The first session introduced some key concepts such as line tone and negative spaces, and we explored some fun ways to get started with drawing portraits. In this session we'll apply what we've learnt in a tonal drawing using an eraser to work backwards from dark to light.

Bright scraps of fabric
Dark chocolate

About the teacher, Jack Godfre

I'm an artist. I draw a lot and teach contemporary and traditional drawing techniques. I keep a sketchbook religiously, usually having several on the go at once. I was always told off for daydreaming at school. Now it's part of my job description!
