Introducing Tai Chi

Tai Chi is the state we achieve, when we incarnate the balance and harmony that holds the cosmos together. We achieve that state through a practice of gentle movement, coordinated with deep breathing and meditative imagery. No prior experience is necessary to participate in this introductory class, nor to enjoy its benefits! We will meet at Portamento for a 30-min. orientation, then walk about 15 min. to a remarkable outdoor space for a 60 min. practice, then walk back to Portamento . //SUPPLIES STUDENTS NEED TO BRING: You will want to wear layers of comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Consider wearing good walking shoes for our little hike, then maybe change into low- or no-heel shoes for the practice. Bring water!

Bring one of the following:
a book, however humble, about one of your passions
a craft item you made
an IOU, guaranteeing to help with the Silver Lake Time Bank's Neighborhood Fruit Harvest Project ( )
organic citrus or low glycemic index fruit (apples, pears), preferably locally grown or harvested
organic, preferably home-grown vegetables

About the teacher, Lee Conger

Lee Conger, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, has been conducting meditation workshops for 10 years in Kaiser Permanente's Addiction Medicine Department. Four years ago, while training with Roger Jahnke, OMD via the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi in Santa Barbara, Lee began leading members of the Silver Lake Time Bank in Tai Chi Easy sessions and introduced the practice at Kaiser. In 2012, he received certification as an Integral Qigong and Tai Chi Teacher and now offers six weekly classes at the clinic.
