Hand book-binding

You will learn two simple methods of hand bookbinding and take home two sketchbooks/notebooks made with materials you have around at home. Please bring to class: –about 50 to 100 sheets of copy paper and/or any new or recycled paper (road maps, blueprints, graph paper--any printed paper with light printing--they can be mixed if you prefer), cut to same size –two empty cardboard boxes (cereal box, paper folders, etc.) –one pair of scissors –pencil/pen –cheap paint brush or sponge brush for glue –heavy book –anything with which you might want to personalize the cover of your handmade books We will provide needle, thread, (acid-free) glue, and some paper for inside and outside covers for variety, but if you have them, you are welcomed to bring them. **Wheelchair / Walker Access: This classroom space is accessible by wheelchair or walker

Bring one of the following:
2 hours of volunteering at Lamp (www.lampcommunity.org). Sign up at class.
2 hours of volunteering at Our Skid Row (www.ourskidrow.org)
Art books for Lamp Arts Program library (artist monographs, art history, catalogs, on techniques)
New or usable art supplies or musical instruments (for Lamp Arts Program)
One bicycle tune up service or instruction on bicycle maintenance.
