This class will cover the fundamentals of using water bath and pressure canning as a means of preserving foods. Learning this skill allows making jam, mustard, soup, pickles, caramelized onions, etc to have in your pantry and to share special gifts with your friends and family. And if you have access to your own fruits and vegetables you really control the goodness of your products. We'll meet at my home, not handicap accessible. Location information will be sent about a week prior to class meeting. I'll prepare some snacks and if you are so inclined bring a snack to share.

Bring one of the following:
A bag of about 3 cu ft of potting soil (not Miracle Grow)
Bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap (16 oz.)
Case of 4oz canning jars
Case of 8oz canning jars
Dog treats - not rawhide

About the teacher, Kathie Adams

I really enjoy DIY and have had many years experience of organizing a monthly craft club, where we make new things that interest us. Making jam, books, stamps, paper, soap and felted soap have been annual favorites. I currently work as a psychotherapist and have retired from a career in engineering.
