Introduction to World Religions

In this crash course on world religion, you will be introduced to the world's 6 largest religions: Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Judaism. We will cover important basics such as origin, sacred texts, important symbolism, and basic beliefs and practices. This class is centered around students and what you want to learn. If there is a religion not included in this list that you want to learn about, feel free to submit your idea to the instructor. Time permitting, we will also be able to look at important artistic/architectural works for each religion!

Bring one of the following:

*have your own goods or services to offer? arrange your own barter by emailing your teacher
A blanket (bought/handmade/hand-me-down)
A book you love

About the teacher, Sarah Ertelt

Sarah is a senior at DePauw University. Her major is Religious Studies, and is a member of Theta Alpha Kappa, the National Religious Studies Honors Society. She is also a part of the Honors Scholar program at DePauw, and studies ethics at the Janet Prindle Institute for Ethics. Last semester she taught Introduction to World Religions and she can't wait to have great discussion on a more specific topics course!
