At the power of words workshop we will explore the etymology and meaning behind some of the phrases and words that are commonly used every day. The spectrum of words will include such as lame, crazy, ghetto and stupid as well as other more controversial words. After learning the history of the words we will have a discussion around ways that we can change the ways we use these words. Please bring something to write on and come with an open mind!

About the teacher, Kate Ashwood

Kate Ashwood is a student at the Dalhousie University and the University of King’s College. Having moved from Ottawa to Halifax Kate loves hiking, swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding. Exploring the outdoors around Halifax is one of her favourite things to do and she is keen to share her passion for the outdoors with others!
