The beginning of a new year is a wonderful time to reflect on how we are relating to ourselves, our friends and family, and our livelihood. This introductory session will provide an introduction and experience of mindfulness practice, connecting it to how we can cultivate presence, clarity and positive intention in different domains of our life. There are many things we cannot control in our environment, but we can shift the way we react to situations moment by moment, finding greater freedom over time to make conscious choices. This workshop will offer teaching, practical instruction and interactive dialogue to ground "mindfulness" in your personal experience.
Bring one of the following:
A sample of your favorite loose-leaf tea
A story of how generosity has made a difference for you
An indoor plant clipping (not spider or jade plants, please)
Seeds for something that can grow in a shady backyard
About the teacher, Julia Sable
From an early age, mindfulness training has been a part of my life. While my professional path has taken me through journalism, civil service, and international non-profit work, my personal path has been a continual exploration of how to develop mindfulness and compassion. My training is in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition, where I am a meditation teacher, and I am also interested in how mindfulness can be applied in secular, organisational and day-to-day life situations.Join
