Gift Circle the fifth

2:00p.m. to 3:30p.m.
Rad Storm
6050 Almon Street
Halifax CA

WE WILL HAVE A FOURTH ONE! Our first meetings were great, therefore we will try to meet on a regular basis, every 2 - 4 weeks. New here? This is what it is: Do you have items, skills, or resources you would like to share? Of course you do, we all have gifts to share! Come out and take part in our gift circle. A gift circle is a space where people express what they have to share and what they would like to receive. Within a gift circle no money is exchanged and there is no expectation of immediate reciprocation. The gifts that can be shared vary widely. Some examples might be a ride to the airport, help moving something heavy, a music lesson, a pair of boots, a bicycle - the list is endless. Our current monetary economy has given us the illusion of independence and turned many of our daily interactions into transactions. Participating in a gift circle is one way to connect with friends and neighbours, experience the joy of giving and build community. The evenings include some discussion of gift economies as an alternative to our monetary economy followed by the gift circle. Everyone is welcome, bringing a snack to share is encouraged but by no means required.
