Social business, Social entrepreneurship, Social impact, Sustainability, fair wages, environmental friendly.....There are many such terms and terminologies which to me simply mean "doing the right thing" where putting people in the centre of the conversation is far more effective and "profitable" than just focusing on stock markets, margins and financial profitability. This class will be a mix of introduction to the topic of social business or entrepreneurship (20 min) followed by a screening of a documentary about social entrepreneurship (1,5h) - with its many practical examples and inspiring change-makers from all over the world it will enlighten the students of the possibilities of "How can I really make a difference today"? Please come to this class with an open mind and do not expect this to be a experts class for all your questions on social entrepreneurship. This class is only an introduction maybe with a follow-up in-depth class in June.

Bring one of the following:
Homemade food or snack
Malabar Monsoon Nespresso tabs (Not really sustainable I know but still like their coffee :))
Organic (Bio) fruits
Organic (Bio) vegetables
White lilies

About the teacher, Narmada Ramakrishna

Like many of us, I hold this great desire to make a dent in this world - to do something for the greater good of humanity - be an instrument even for the upliftment of goodness by empowering people and projects doing great things. In search for this goodness, I ended up in the world of social business, impactful capitalism, impact investing etc. Currently, running a social enterprise in Geneva building a ethical luxury brand working with artisans in the developing world I can directly relate to the up and downs of being this field. It can be extremely fulfilling but at the same time very challenging. To show that we are not alone in this journey - I like showcasing films like these and getting together with like-minded people to empower them to pursue goodness in their business, put people in the centre of their strategy and follow subjective intuitions rather than the objective mind while doing business. I am also one of the co-founders of Trade School Geneva
