Anxiety 101

Anxiety is the most common mental health concern in children, adolescents and adults. Less than one third of school aged children receive the help they need. This presentation will help attendees understand the mechanisms of anxiety, behaviours related to anxiety, as well as fundamental steps you can take to begin reclaiming your life! There will be strategies provided to support both childhood and adult anxiety.
About the teacher, Carolynn Turner
I am a full time MA Counselling Psychology student at UBC, expecting to complete my degree June 2013. I am the Clinic Director and founder of Lavender Counselling in South Surrey, where we strive to help children, adolescents, adults and couples flourish in their lives!

This class teaches the fundamentals of the Adobe Creative Suite programs Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign. By the end of class, students will have the basic understanding of the tools, how to navigate the program, the different uses of each program and other neat tricks. Note: It is recommended that students bring their own laptop & mouse with the programs Photoshop, Illustrator and inDesign installed so that you may participate in the exercises.
Taught by David Ngo
David is a graduate of The Art Institute of Vancouver and has been working in the field for four years. He has working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite design programs and is familiar in both print and web mediums.

Want to know about some common herbs that grow in your neighbourhood? Herbs can help you with many common daily ailments and many are quite nutritious. Want to know about some herbs that can help with a cold, calm an upset stomach, help you get a good night's sleep, and many other helpful tips? This is an introductory class to herbs that you can find outside in your neighbourhood, at the grocery store, or in your own kitchen. Come learn about the surprising ways you can use herbs to affordably take care of you and your family's health. We'll also discuss easy and delicious ways to prepare some herbs, as well as easy ways to grow some on your windowsill or in your garden. Note: This class will be held outdoors as we'll be identifying some common herbs. Meet at 6pm sharp at the South East corner of Clark Drive and E10th Avenue (China Creek Park).

Nikoo has been learning about herbal medicine for several years and is excited about sharing her knowledge to help inspire and empower others to start taking their health into their own hands. I have found new connections with plants by learning about the herbs growing around me.
